The Premiership is continuing to show why it is the best league in the world. Its just so unpredictable even more than this years AFL fixture. The title race for once looks wide open and not just for the usual 'big four'. A handful of previous fringe teams are in with a real chance this season and with Chelsea losing a significant amount of players to the African Nations in January it only looks to have twists and turns.
The festive period is full of fixtures and it's where seasons are won and lost. Spurs and Villa seem to be the only teams in real form, both now holding places in the top five. I fear for Liverpool this season, currently lying down in 8th, knocked out of the Champions League and and really struggling to gain any sort of consistency. This period over christmas is going to be very important if they want to play European football next season.
The battle to avoid the drop is just as exciting as the battle to win the league, with Pompey looking doomed just a few weeks ago, but now just two points off the rest of the pack. The new boys are doing their bit and Birmingham are really flying. Be prepared for a big team to go down this season
